Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 4, 2026
The short version: Quillseek is a 100% local application. It does not
collect, transmit, or store any of your data on any server. Your documents, your search
queries, and your index never leave your computer. This page explains the limited ways
this website and the purchase process (if you buy the Pro edition) touch data.
1. The application collects nothing
Quillseek works entirely on your computer. Specifically, the application:
- Never uploads your files — indexing, full-text search, and AI semantic search all run on your machine.
- Never transmits your search queries — no query text is sent to any server, ever.
- Contains no telemetry, analytics, or crash reporting — the application makes no network connections on its own.
- Requires no account — no sign-up, no email, no profile.
All data the application creates (its search index, file change records, and settings) is
stored locally on your computer in the application's data folder. You can delete it at any
time by uninstalling the application or removing that folder, and it is gone permanently.
There is no server copy.
2. What this website collects
When you visit this website, we count anonymous, aggregate page visits and download-button
clicks so we know how many people are interested in the product. Details:
- We do not use advertising or third-party tracking scripts (no Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, etc.).
- We do not use advertising cookies or build advertising profiles.
- Visit records may include your IP address, used solely to de-duplicate repeated visits
within a short window and to produce aggregate statistics. These records are never
linked to your identity, never sold, and never shared with advertisers.
- Downloading the installer does not require any personal information.
3. Purchases and payments (Pro edition)
If you purchase the Quillseek Pro edition, checkout and payment are handled by
Paddle.com, which acts as our Merchant
of Record. This means Paddle is the seller of record for the transaction and processes your
payment, applicable taxes, and order invoice.
When you buy through Paddle, the following applies:
- We never see your full payment card details. Card data is handled by Paddle's PCI-compliant payment infrastructure.
- Paddle processes your order data (name, email, billing country, transaction details) as a data controller under
Paddle's own Privacy Policy. We recommend reading it before purchasing.
- What we receive is limited to the order data Paddle shares with us (typically your email address, order number, and product purchased), which we use only to issue your license key and provide support.
- The application itself does not contact any server for activation. License verification happens entirely offline on your computer, so purchasing does not introduce any "phone home" behavior.
4. Support emails
If you email us for support, we use your email address and the content of your message
only to answer you and improve the product. We do not add you to marketing lists without
your explicit consent, and you can ask us to delete your support correspondence at any time.
5. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA and similar)
Because the application collects no personal data, most data-protection rights concern
only purchase records (held by Paddle) and support correspondence (held by us):
- Access / deletion: email us and we will tell you what support data we hold about you and delete it on request. For purchase records, contact Paddle or us and we will pass the request on.
- No sale of data: we do not sell or rent personal data, ever.
- No profiling: we do not build behavioral profiles of website visitors or users.
6. Children
Quillseek is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your
jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
7. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with an updated
date. If a change is material, we will also announce it on the product website. Given the
application collects no data, changes will most likely concern only the website and
purchase flow described above.
